Peace of mind: TravelManagers’ Credit Card Chargeback Insurance protects clients and PTMs

TravelManagers’ Credit Card Chargeback Insurance (CCCBI) has proved effective in protecting Personal Travel Managers (PTMs) from customer chargebacks due to supplier failure that was exacerbated by the global pandemic and travel restrictions.

TravelManagers’ Credit Card Chargeback Insurance (CCCBI) has proved effective in protecting Personal Travel Managers (PTMs) from customer chargebacks due to supplier failure that was exacerbated by the global pandemic and travel restrictions.

COO Grant Campbell said the company fortuitously took out CCCBI in July 2019 to fulfil its ‘Peace of Mind’ promise to its customers and PTMs with no knowledge of how the pandemic would impact international travel for the next two years.

“The arrival of COVID meant that the need for this protection changed quickly from hypothetical to actual but having it in place meant we were well-prepared,” Mr Campbell said.

PTM Cath Graham benefitted from the CCCBI policy when Crystal Cruises was placed into liquidation on 14 February 2022, which could have lost her and the client thousands of dollars.

“My client was booked on a Crystal Cruises cruise scheduled to embark in Athens on 14 June 2020, which was initially postponed and eventually cancelled because of COVID with the funds held in credit to use when cruising resumed,” Ms Graham said.

“However, Crystal Cruises eventually failed, which could have left both my client and me out of pocket by thousands of dollars.”

TravelManagers’ National Partnership Office (NPO) team stepped in to assist with the lodgement of a CCCBI claim to recoup her client’s funds, and within 10 days of application, the claim was processed, approved and paid.

“The process was smooth, the support from NPO was invaluable and what could have been a really stressful situation was turned into a positive experience,” Ms Graham said.

Mr Campbell said TravelManagers has the only known CCCBI policy in the Australian travel market.

“All up, 13 clients have been impacted by five supplier failures over the course of the pandemic and to date, our CCCBI has saved close to $50,000,” he said.

“It really demonstrates the value that CCCBI has delivered and will continue to deliver to individual PTMs as part of TravelManagers’ Australia-wide network.”
