The annual Australian Tourism Export Council ATEC Meeting Place 2024 has kicked off on the Gold Coast with an intensive three-day program, including 5,500 meetings between 600 local tourism businesses and 100-plus international buyers – the largest in the trade event’s history.
Running from 28–30 October 2024, it’s an opportunity for Queensland and Australian tourism businesses to meet face-to-face with buyers from around the world and promote their products.
The ATEC Meeting Place 2024 program features B2B appointments, a conference lineup and breakout sessions, buyer and supplier forums, networking and gala awards.

ATEC Managing Director Peter Shelley said Meeting Place 2024 is also a fantastic way to show off the Gold Coast’s top-shelf tourism offerings to international buyers.
“This is a critical time for our industry with our tourism businesses yet to see full recovery and ATEC Meeting Place is an essential platform for Australian tourism products as the global tourism market continues to recover and grow,” he said.
“Meeting Place 2024 is also a fantastic opportunity to show off the Gold Coast’s world-class tourism offerings, giving international buyers a firsthand experience of why this destination continues to be a top choice for visitors worldwide.”

Tourism and Events Queensland CEO Patricia O’Callaghan is thrilled to host the ATEC Meeting Place 2024 in Queensland as the state aims for a $44 billion industry by 2032.
“ATEC Meeting Place not only sets up a pipeline of business and keeps Queensland top of mind, but also boosts the local economy by an estimated $1.5 million in visitor spending,” she said.
“We’re setting up the foundations to almost double international overnight visitor expenditure to $11 billion by 2032 and it’s events like ATEC Meeting Place that connect more Queensland tourism operators with trade partners to sell more Queensland holidays.”
