Reho Travel’s CEO Karsten Horne recently conquered Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Along the way, he recorded his journey & curated into the short film ‘Mt Kilimanjaro – Are You Strong Enough’. Here is his story:

A few weeks ago I climbed Mt Kilimanjaro with a friend, a trip that took a lot of preparation over many months.

We raised our fitness to the next level, researched the right gear, read every article we could lay our hands on, watched countless YouTube videos and followed every Kilimanjaro hashtag we could find.

However, the one thing we hadn’t really thought about was how to record the experience. That was until my daughter Sheridan suggested I use my phone to capture some video and she would throw it together for me.

So armed with a new iPhone X in my back pocket I did my best to record some footage under trying circumstances, often sacrificing a critical hand hold, walking over rough ground in selfie mode and almost losing two fingers to frostbite on the summit.

When we returned home I handed my daughter the footage and soon began to understand why she followed her chosen career path. Sheridan and her partner Nick run Bubble Productions which specialises in short films, music videos and events.

It didn’t take long for my random bits of footage and awkward vlogging to take shape. You can see the film for yourself below.

Suddenly we had two amazing music acts, Josh Cashman and Tuva Finseras on board, a poster designed by the incredible Viv Trang and words like assembly edit, colour grading and exponential fade were floating through the house.

The end result is a pretty cool short film that I’m really proud of, it’s called Kilimanjaro – are you strong enough, a film that I hope travel consultants can use to educate themselves and their clients on an amazing destination.
