SRI LANKA LOVE: Megafam Agents Live It Up Bunnik Style

Oh Sri Lanka, why are you so awesome? Why is your food so tasty and your people the friendliest bunch of folks on the planet?

Oh Sri Lanka, why are you so awesome? Why is your food so tasty and your people the friendliest bunch of folks on the planet?

While you’re at your desk booking amazing holidays and taking names, a lucky group of 45 travel agents are gallivanting their way around beautiful Sri Lanka on the Bunnik Travel Group’s Sri Lanka Mega Famil and thinking these very questions…

And they’re having an absolute fab time.

Jealous? So are we.

But, hey, someone needs to go out there and explore this magical island paradise and report back its awesomeness! Led by Dennis and Marion Bunnik, this 10-day famil (departing on 3rd October and returning on 13th October) has already given agents a fantastic range of experiences and many lasting memories.

Here’s just a sneak-peak at Sri Lanka’s abundant awesomeness waiting for your clients, as experienced by this uber-lucky cohort of agents with Bunnik Tours and Small Group Touring Co.

Oh, the culture!

No visit to Sri Lanka would be complete without scaling the world-heritage listed Sigiriya “Lion Rock” and exploring the cultural heartland of Kandy – so naturally, these agents ticked these bad boys off their list!

Sigiriya is the site of an ancient palace and fortress built on top of a 200-metre rock, and Kandy is home to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha – both UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Agents also visited the Cave Temples of Dambulla which contain hundreds of stunning Buddha statues and paintings, including some of the country’s most significant (and impressive) religious art.

Oh, the food!

Agents got to break bread over a lovely barbeque dinner with a local family where they experienced amazing Sri Lankan hospitality.

They also got to tuck into delicious Sri Lankan breakfasts almost daily, visited the Negombo fish markets where freshly-caught seafood was on colourful display, wander around the highland tea fields in Nuwara Eliya and take an aromatic tour of the Matale Spice Plantations – mmm!

Oh, the history!

An ancient land, Sri Lanka is steeped in rich history. On this famil, agents got to go on a “treasure hunt” and wander around the Dutch colonial town of Galle on the southern coast of the island, which is packed with ancient mosques and museums within its fortified walls.

Other fantastic sites to see in Sri Lanka include the Madu River and the unique stilt fishermen as they go about their trade in Weligama. Indeed, there’s so much to see and do in Sri Lanka that Lonely Planet ranked the country number one to visit in 2019.

Oh, the nature!

From hopping on a sunset boat ride along the gorgeous Gin Oya River whilst being serenaded by abundant birdsong, to spotting wildlife on jeep safaris through Minneriya and Wilpattu National Parks, agents got to get out amongst nature and experience the thrill of seeing herds of elephants, sloth bears and even leopards in their natural habitats – don’t forget your camera!

So what are you waiting for?

Small Group Touring Co.’s 13-day Sri Lankan Journey tour is a shorter alternative, starting at $3,695 per person.
