Not to be outdone by its increasingly lively Melbourne crew, TIME’s Sydney network recently assembled at the Bondi Junction HQ of The Travel Corporation to welcome the 31st intake of mentees to its legendary mentoring program.
“We love seeing new mentees take their first steps in the program,” said TIME founder, Penny Spencer.
“It’s the start of an incredible professional metamorphosis for many of them as they set off to be challenged and guided by their personal, expertly-matched mentors,” continued Penny.

TIME’s mentor-mentee matching expertise is a critical pillar of the program’s near decade-long success.

“Getting that right makes all the difference,” said Penny Spencer.
“No two mentees are the same. They’re all different people seeking different things from the program. A cookie-cutter approach would be meaningless,” she continued.

After welcome drinks, canapes, and a welcome address from TTC’s CEO Australia, John Veitch, the evening’s keynote was delivered by respected travel industry figure, entrepreneur and TIME mentor, Peter Egglestone.

“Mentoring is a two-way process,” said Egglestone.
“As a mentor, you learn so much more about yourself as a human being, in addition to imparting some of your experience to your mentee,” he continued.
As a committed coach and mentor, Peter thrives on developing people into new leaders, by helping them enhance their capabilities through empowerment and encouragement.

“Confidence is your ability to show your inner-strength to other people,” posited Egglestone.
“You can do anything you want in life with pure hard work. It doesn’t matter who you are, the key factors to being successful in business are passion and perseverance,” he concluded.
Since its foundation in 2009, TIME has accelerated the leadership and career paths of some 200 graduates from more than 100 travel, tourism and hospitality businesses.
