The visiting Grapevine, Texas delegation wrapped its Australian trade mission at The Barossa Cellar with a VIP event for a select group of Phil Hoffman Travel, Flight Centre, Helloworld, MTA and Travel Managers advisors.

The visiting Grapevine, Texas delegation wrapped its Australian trade mission at The Barossa Cellar with a VIP event for a select group of Phil Hoffman Travel, Flight Centre, Helloworld, MTA and Travel Managers advisors.

The day-long event saw the Adelaide-based agents experience a tour of The Barossa Cellar with Barossa Australia CEO James March, followed by a destination update from Director of International Sales for Grapevine, Texas Heather Egan.

While Australia’s Barossa is world-famous for its viticulture, Texas is the fifth-largest wine-producing state in the US with Grapevine known for its Urban Wine Trail and annual GrapeFest wine festival.

After a wine tasting with Baron of Barossa and Yalumba Head Winemaker Louisa Rose, the group enjoyed a ‘Barossa Rib with Texas wine lunch’ paired with Sagrantino Reserva from Grapevine, Texas with Barossa business owners.

The local leaders then had a capability workshop with Barossa Australia and Grapevine, Texas where best practices were shared through panel discussions and networking opportunities.

“This was an excellent opportunity to continue to build depth in the Barossa/Grapevine Sister City relationship,” Barossa Australia CEO Mr March said.

“GrapeFest has been an excellent avenue to raise the profile of Barossa wine in Texas and the US, so this event served a dual purpose of raising awareness of our partnership with Grapevine and providing the opportunity to share best-practice wine tourism.”

Ms Egan said: “What a wonderful way to introduce the travel trade to Grapevine with an event here in the Barossa, a destination we feel such a strong connection with and have been proud to highlight at our very own wine festival, GrapeFest, twice in recent years.”
