The Travellers Choice 2023 Member Survey found travel advisors unanimously reported being ‘satisfied’ or ‘more than satisfied’ with their membership of the national travel group network. The survey also highlighted some of the ongoing issues faced by advisors.

Members gave positive feedback on the quality and range of services and support Travellers Choice provided along with the annual conference and strong communication strategy.

In addition, members praised the group’s new membership model, which offers a choice of three categories for different levels of service and support.

Travellers Choice Managing Director Christian Hunter said the group’s Net Promoter Score (NPS) – a measure of customer and brand loyalty – exceeded expectations this year, achieving an NPS of almost 85 per cent, well above the benchmark.

Mr Hunter said the survey also highlighted challenges currently facing retail travel advisors, including the struggle to find experienced staff.

“For Travellers Choice members, the burden is lessened by our training and development service, TC Pro, which provides access to a wage subsidy that travel agency owners can take advantage of for new or existing employees who complete relevant qualifications,” he said.

Another issue raised is a desire for more support and contact from supplier partners.

“As suppliers rebuild their teams, I urge them to look beyond city limits and ensure that regional areas receive the benefits of regular contact with business development managers,” Mr Hunter said.

“Some of Australia’s most successful independent business operators are regional or based in smaller states. For companies willing to dedicate resources, there’s a real opportunity to develop strong relationships and sales volumes with these agents.”

Overall, Mr Hunter said Travellers Choice members are upbeat in their outlook and recognise now is an exciting time for the travel industry in its “journey back to normality”.
