Joyce Weir, a prominent figure in the Australian travel industry for more than two decades, sadly passed away on Monday morning.

Beloved by many in the travel industry, Joyce Weir most recently worked as national business development manager – MICE at Globus Family of Brands (GFOB) after joining the group in February 2021.

In nearly three years with the company, GFOB said Weir worked “tirelessly” with clients on MICE programmes while expanding business opportunities in the conference and incentive space.

“Joyce’s passion and determination for seeking out new business was unmatched. She did everything with a smile and a skip in her step,” Globus family of brands managing director Asia Pacific Gai Tyrrell said, paying tribute to the abundance of energy and enthusiasm that made her a beloved colleague.

“She was a shining light who will be forever missed.”

Prior to her stint with GFOB, Weir worked with Hawaiian Airlines for nearly four years as its business development manager MICE/Groups and Cruise.

In that time, she was honoured with the carrier’s ‘CEO Outstanding Achievement’ award ‘Lau Lima’, for excellence in sales.
