The part-time evening course at Ultimo TAFE  (officially known as Statement of Attainment in Travel Agency Essentials 1) is being offered to Aussie citizens and permanent residents at the reduced rate of $165.

“The course offers students a ‘taster’ of our Certificate III in Travel at a reduced (part government subsidised) fee.”

Travel and Tourism teacher Sue Andrikidis.

The 18 week course which kicks off on Monday, February 12 will fill students in on all the skills and knowledge employees need from those venturing into a career in travel.

Key topics covered will include destinations, products and how to give advice about them to Australian and international clients. There will also be a short unit on social and cultural sensitivity.

The other two evenings will be dedicated to international and promotional airfares.

“During this section, students will learn the ‘art of fare construction’ and ‘interpreting the fare rules to make the best use of a promotional fare,” Sue says.

The course will conclude with a run down on the Computer Reservation System – Amadeus – leading toward an Amadeus Training Achievement Certificate.
