You heard us fangirling about New Zealand’s new Snow Highway back in July. The sheer brilliance of connecting the best of the South Island’s ski resort in one incredible itinerary warmed us better than any schnaps could. And you can WIN the freshest ski adventure out there, thanks to ANZCRO! You can even enter right now.

The Snow Highway ticks all skier and snowboarder boxes on a journey from Ōtautahi Christchurch to Queenstown and Wanaka by way of Methven, Mt Hutt and Lake Tekapo.

New Zealand’s newest road trip route also helps get Aussie travellers out of their ski field slump. You know the ones; book Queenstown year-on-year-on-year. Now, they can broaden their horizons and take in more of the South Island’s “oh wow” landscapes while still including beloved Queenstown at the end!

A road trip along the Snow Highway is one of thrills, spills (often), and good times. Less crowded mountains, different snow experiences, and even more spectacular South Island scenery make for an unforgettable holiday.

Snow Highway ski fields include:

  • Mt Hutt Winner of the Best NZ Ski Resort award for seven years, Mt Hutt is close to Ōtautahi Christchurch, only an hour’s drive away. With its expansive skiable area, reliable snowfall and great pricing, Mt Hutt impresses.
  • Mt Cook National Park Skiers adore Mt Cook National Park for its dramatic scenery and lengthy ski run (it’s New Zealand’s longest). Especially when adding ice cave explorations with Ski the Tasman Glacier.
  • Queenstown & Wanaka World-class ski fields in Queenstown and Wanaka offer a dream line-up for skiers and boarders of all abilities. For learners and incredible backcountry terrain, The Remarkables is a total win. Family fave Coronet Peak, only 20 minutes from Queenstown, is the fastest way to get from your morning latte to the slopes. In Wanaka, Cardrona is a snowboarder’s paradise with excellent terrain parks. Treble Cone is fab for intermediate and advanced skiers.
