Chimu Adventures, in collaboration with Travel Associates Noosa Civic, would like to invite you to their upcoming Charity Gala-Event, supporting the people of the Galapagos Islands.

Like most communities around the world, the Galapagos Islands have suffered from the loss of their tourism industry due to the global pandemic.

This has resulted in the hunting of local wildlife that were once protected, simply to put food on the table.

Having already raised $10,000 from a walk across Australia, James Mcalloon and the Chimu team would like to bring together the best of the Sunshine Coast on Thursday 4th February for an amazing night of fine dining, Latin-inspired entertainment, and a great excuse to get dressed up as they try to raise more funds to help the people that need it most.

About the cause

Chimu Galapagos

Isabela Bucheli is a Galapagos National Park naturalist guide, now focusing her energy on a food bank that supports those struggling with the hard-hitting impacts of COVID-19.

Tourism is the main industry in Galapagos is tourism, representing 95% of income. Since March, when the pandemic started, the Islands have no tourism, and many of the local businesses have closed permanently.

Cruise ships, small boats, aquatic taxis, hotels, restaurants, souvenir stores, bars, that give usually give work to many people stopped, putting many locals out of work.

This is why Isabela decided to start a social aid project called The Public Food Bank, where she and other volunteers and donors prepare lunch from Monday to Friday.

Currently, Isabela and her team feed 350 to 400 hungry people every day.
