Stop-over, shopping trip, food-break. Whatever your heart desires, you will find in Bangkok. Why not add a funky, quirky hotel to the list?

Here is your chance to bring to life the culmination of everything that makes this city one of the coolest on earth. Check out these hotels that everyone is talking about.

1. SIAM @ SIAM

In this unique hotel you will experience the effortless blend of business and leisure, with the sophistication that a business orientated customer craves but the grandeur and lavishness that your leisure traveller will blog about.

As you enter the lobby, your senses will be in over-drive with towering geometric ceilings in traditional red, orange and yellow colours accompanied by part-rustic and part-aquatic feel. You’ll be visually blown away within seconds with the staff and service being the cherry on top at this one-stop quirk-shop!

2. DREAM HOTEL

Your first thought when you hear Dream Hotel is ‘ooh, they must be designed for sleeping and relaxing’ – well, yeah, there’s that but if you want to party 24/7 – you can do that too. This hotel offers the holiday you are looking for, without claiming to be one thing or another.

Their unrivalled service means if you want peace and quiet, you’ve got it. If you want to party and explore the nightlife, they’ll help you meet the locals for the best places to go. Oh, did we mention it’s pet friendly? So if you want to adopt a stray – you’ve got somewhere to take them!

3. PLAYHAUS THONGLOR

For the inner diva in all of us, let your inner-child and stage-Mum come to the rescue with this hotel paying homage to the city of Angels, Los Angeles. With room themes ranging from Romeo & Juliet to Aladdin and my personal favourite, Mary Poppins – your stay is guaranteed to be supercalifragili- you get the idea.

Don’t let the childish façade fool you though, this hotel means business with a strong four-star rating in the centre of Bangkok, what’s not to love?

4. SHANGHAI MANSION

Winner of the 2017 Best City Boutique Hotel, this Chinese inspired hotel is a fine blend of welcoming, exotic, calming and charming. While the staff are on-hand to anticipate your needs, you’ll feel like the biggest fish in their pond while you unwind in several of their stylish lounges.

If you’re lucky enough to experience their Mu Dan suite – we are going to need a full recap on the smells. Apparently, it’s fragranced like the peony flower of the same name, said to be intoxicating and sensual. Take me already!

5. THE YARD HOSTEL

Youth market, we haven’t forgotten about you. How could we? This is probably one of the quirkiest places to stay in Bangkok. It’s out on the fringes so if you’re after somewhere central, scroll back up. Some of the rooms at the Yard Hostel are within stacked shipping containers, with wooden walkways leading from area to area. The hostel has a sociable and friendly vibe without being a party place where you can’t get a wink of sleep.

The hotel does its best to be environmentally friendly, with water-saving toilets, energy-saving appliances, and a distaste for throw-away plastic. Guests can even use free bicycles to explore the area. Let’s be honest, they had us at sleeping in shipping containers – so cool!

The joy of travel is to experience the unfamiliar and post all about it on Facebook but what these hotels do is capture the authenticity of Bangkok and just give it a different spin. From budget to luxury, you can find quirky hotels for every style – why not try something different next time you’re in Bangkok?
