Sydney’s hotel scene has welcomed a fresh addition with the transformation of the former Tank Stream Hotel into the reimagined Rydges Australia Square, officially opened last week.
Where is Rydges Australia Square?
Located at 99 Pitt Street, Rydges Australia Square is within walking distance of Sydney’s most iconic attractions, including Circular Quay, the Sydney Opera House, and Darling Harbour. Its prime location also provides easy access to transport hubs like Sydney Metro’s Martin Place station and Wynyard train station, making it a convenient choice for both business and leisure travellers.
What do the rooms at Rydges Australia Square look like?
Rydges Australia Square’s transformation included a comprehensive refurbishment of the entire property. The hotel now features 280 revamped guest rooms across 15 floors, designed to meet the needs of business travellers seeking convenience and leisure visitors exploring Sydney.

The ground-floor lobby has been revitalised to enhance the guest experience, with features such as seamless check-in kiosks to minimise wait times.
A new bar for Sydney
The hotel’s Poco Local Wine Bar is set to attract both guests and locals. Open from breakfast through to dinner, Poco offers a varied menu tailored to different times of the day. Guests can enjoy coffee and pastries in the morning or Italian-inspired dishes and a curated selection of wines in the evening.

Dining and event facilities at Rydges Australia Square
Rydges Australia Square provides more than just accommodation. Corporate clients can take advantage of the newly built Executive Boardroom, which accommodates up to 14 attendees, and a private dining space for up to 25. These facilities make the hotel an excellent option for intimate conferences, meetings, and exclusive events.
Guests can also dine at Le Petit Flot, a French-inspired restaurant open for breakfast and dinner. Complementary access to nearby fitness facilities is available to all guests.
How many Rydges properties are there Down Under?
Rydges Australia Square is the 45th property in the Rydges portfolio across Australia and New Zealand, operated by EVT Hotels & Resorts.

“Our team, led by General Manager Rebecca Hamey, have worked in close collaboration with the hotel’s owners to bring Rydges’ signature style while ensuring we honour the vibrant energy of the surrounding area,” said Norman Arundel, Director of EVT Hotels & Resorts.
With more than three decades of experience, Rydges has built a reputation for offering down-to-earth hospitality and delivering essential services with its trademark ‘too easy’ approach. Rydges Australia Square embodies this ethos, providing a reliable and comfortable base in the heart of Sydney’s bustling CBD.
