Air China is giving Australians, particularly Victorians, access to more flights from Melbourne to China with a new, direct service to Beijing.

Commencing 1 June, the airline will fly four times weekly from Melbourne to Beijing.

This is in addition to existing flights between Melbourne to Beijing via Shanghai – giving the airline at least one flight every day between Melbourne and China.

New direct flights will operate every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

On the same day current Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday services to Beijing via Shanghai will continue to operate, however, flights will now terminate in Shanghai.

Tourism Minister John Eren said the move was a vote of confidence in Victoria’s tourism industry and expects it will contribute billions to local economy.

“Air China’s plan brings one of the world’s biggest tourist markets even closer to our shores.”
