Are these shorts too short for a plane?

Some airlines are tight on their lounge clothing regulations, others are a little cautious of what people wear in business and first class.

Some airlines are tight on their lounge clothing regulations, others are a little cautious of what people wear in business and first class.

But this airline seems to have missed the memo on casual wear in economy.

JetBlue, the carrier that was cool enough to give its passengers free flights on TWO occasions, is making headlines after forcing a passenger to change her outfit because her shorts were deemed to be too short.

Maggie McMuffin (guys, this is the name used in all reports) was boarding her flight from Boston to Seattle last month when she was stopped by air crew and told her bottoms were too offensive.

Sure, the black and white striped high-waisted shorts sat right at the tops of her thighs, but they covered the critical areas (front and back). And they’re surely not as offensive as some of those tiny ripped jeans we’ve seen up at 32,000-feet.

McMuffin offered to cover the shorts with a jumper or wrap a blanket around her legs, but crew told her she needed to change them if she wanted to board the flight.

Not having a spare outfit (tsk, tsk, number one rule of flying – always have backup clothes in your carry on), she was forced to fork out $22 for a pair of longer bottoms from an airport store.

Perhaps the funniest part of the whole story is that McMuffin (really want to know if this is a fake surname) wore the same pants earlier in the day on a flight from New York to Boston.

A JetBlue spokesperson told media the shorts in question were discussed by gate and on board crew and determined that they “may offend other families on the flight”.

Since, the shorts have gone viral and JetBlue has reimbursed McMuffin for the new shorts and even gave her a free flight voucher.

So what do you think? Are these shorts too short for economy?
