Malay more flights? Batik Air Malaysia adds direct Melbourne-KL seasonal services

Batik Air Malaysia (formerly Malindo Air) will debut direct flights between Melbourne and Kuala Lumpur from December 2023, operating a thrice-weekly seasonal service from 20 December 2023 to 6 February 2024.

The new nonstop MEL-KUL route is now on sale and will complement Batik Air Malaysia’s existing daily Melbourne-Denpasar-Kuala Lumpur services.

Batik Air will operate the MEL-KUL return flights on its Airbus A330-300 aircraft with seats available from AUD$859 in Economy Class and $2,399 in Business.

Flights will depart Melbourne Airport on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 6:45am and land at Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 12:10pm local time.

Batik Air Malaysia also flies to Bali from Perth as well as from Brisbane, Adelaide and Sydney.

It also debuted direct Adelaide-Kuala Lumpur services in July 2023 and relaunched its Auckland-KL route via Perth on 24 August.

The rapidly expanding Malaysian-based carrier has its main hub at Kuala Lumpur International Airport and operates a network of 52 routes across Asia, Australia and the Middle East.

The carrier also announced the addition of direct KL-Istanbul flights to its global network, commencing 9 February 2024.

Currently in the process of rebranding, Batik Air Malaysia is a full-service airline and a member of Indonesia’s Lion Air Group, based in Jakarta, which includes Batik Air Indonesia, Super Air Jet, Lion Air, Wings Air, Biz Jet and Thai Lion Air.
