BRISBANE-BEIJING FLIGHTS ARE ONLY A FEW MONTHS AWAY

Queensland continues to win new airline deals through Chinese carriers with the latest being Air China's new direct Brisbane-Beijing service launching in December this year.

Queensland continues to win new airline deals through Chinese carriers with the latest being Air China’s new direct Brisbane-Beijing service launching in December this year.

The new route announcement comes less than two months after China Southern confirmed an expansion to its network with flights from Cairns and less than a year after China Eastern launched its own direct service from Brisbane to Shanghai.

Queensland’s Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the deal will inject more than $190 million into the local economy by bringing nearly 170,000 people to the state over the next four years, Courier Mail reported.

“We know the best way to grow tourism in Queensland is to secure more direct international flights.”

Annastacia Palaszczuk, Queensland Premier

“Securing flights from China’s capital city for the first time is a big coup for Queensland, opening up new opportunities to tap into this valuable market.”

As the first ever Air China scheduled service to Queensland and the first service from the Australian state to Greater Northern China, the carrier said it will operate its A330-200 on the route with 30 Business Class lie-flat beds and 207 Economy seats.
