It could very well be, with the airline saying its hopes to expand its Australian operations with new aircraft.

In a statement, the carrier said as part of its fleet renewal program it will take delivery of 30 brand-new Airbus A321neo aircraft, which feature new engines, wing tip devices and 20 percent fuel savings.

The highlight of the aircraft is that it has a flying radius of over six hours, which the carrier said it hopes to utilise to access new markets in the Indian subcontinent and Australia.

“[This will] allow CEB to access new markets in the Indian subcontinent and Australia.”

The statement comes less than a month after Tourism Philippines’ Undersecretary for Tourism Development told Sydney-based media that he was keen to add new direct connections between Australia and the Philippines, including non-stop flights from Australian cities to Cebu.

Currently, Cebu Pacific only flies on the Manila-Sydney route.

Meanwhile, the carrier has also signed a forward sale agreement to lease four Airbus A319 aircraft to Allegiant Air, a subsidiary of Allegiant Travel Company.

Scheduled to arrive from 2017 to 2018, the leasing of four aircraft will make room for the carrier’s new orders, which also include 16 ATR 72-600 turboprop aircraft designed to meet increasing demand in the Philippines for inter-island services.
