Hawaiian Airlines has made it easier for travellers to explore paradise with their favourite gear.
The airline now accepts surfboards, bicycles, golf clubs and other sports equipment as standard checked baggage on all flights.
In addition, passengers booking with the Hawaiian Airlines World Elite Mastercard can enjoy two free checked bags, including sports gear, on eligible flights.
Plus, with Hawaiian Airlines’ partnership with Alaska Air Group, the policy extends across their combined network. Alaska Airlines officially acquired Hawaiian in early 2024, with both carriers continuing to operate as separate brands.
The baggage update coincides with the launch of Huaka’i by Hawaiian, a free program offering Hawai’i residents perks like a free checked bag on neighbour island flights and exclusive discounts.
“Hawai’i is synonymous with surfing and many ocean and land-based activities that draw visitors from around the world,” Hawaiian Airlines Product Manager Sandra Wang said.
“We are excited to extend this new benefit to our visitors and kama’āina so they can enjoy their favourite sports and hobbies while exploring Hawai’i and anywhere they travel in our network, including Asia, Oceania and the U.S. continent.”
In 2024, Hawaiian Airlines marked two decades of flying to Australia, with Sydney as one of its first long-haul routes.
Late last year, the carrier revealed its latest aircraft livery designs featuring beloved characters from the Moana and Moana 2 animated films. Plus, the first themed A330 will also fly to and from Australia.
