Jetstar launches a new Sydney-Busselton direct flight today, linking East Coast visitors to WA’s Margaret River region for the first time. To celebrate, there’s a 12-hour sale from 9am AEDT with one-way Sydney-Busselton Margaret River fares from $135.

The thrice-weekly service on Tuesdays (switching to Mondays from 1 April), Thursdays and Saturdays will operate on Jetstar’s Airbus A320 aircraft and is expected to carry more than 50,000 travellers between the two destinations annually.

Jetstar is the only airline to offer direct commercial flights from Sydney and Melbourne to Busselton Margaret River. The Sydney-Busselton direct flights will take around five hours.

Jetstar Executive Manager, Customer Jenn Armor said the new Sydney service launch comes just ahead of the second anniversary of its Melbourne-Busselton Margaret River route in April.

“Following the success of those flights, which have carried over 100,000 passengers so far, we’re excited to launch the only direct flights from Sydney to WA’s stunning South West,” she said.

WA Tourism Minister Rita Saffioti said these flights are a game-changer for WA’s South West tourism industry and came about via the state’s $75 million Aviation Recovery Fund.

“With 95 per cent of visitors to Western Australia arriving by air, the state’s visitor economy relies heavily on air travel, especially in the regions,” she said.

“Supporting more direct connections from domestic and international locations is a key priority for the WA Government and we will continue to encourage more airlines to secure non-stop and direct connections into WA’s regions.”
