Another pay-as-you-go airport lounge has opened in Australia for all the commitment-phobes who can’t settle on an airline loyalty group but want the perks of relaxing in an airport lounge.
Marhaba opened its doors to its lounge in Melbourne this month where some 200 travellers can pay a one-off entry fee to experience ultimate pre-flight relaxation made up of showers, buffets and wi-fi.
Although it’s the first Marhaba-branded space in Australia, it’s actually the country’s third pay-as-you-go lounge, with two Plaza Premium Group lounges currently operating in Brisbane and Sydney.
Located in Terminal 2, the Melbourne space is available for departing passengers travelling between 6.00am and midnight who either book online beforehand or walk in and pay on the spot.
Much like an airline lounge, Marhaba’s space comes with free wi-fi, a generous buffet, shower facilities and there’s even a quiet zone for relaxation.
Travellers will also find a selection of premium Australian wines on-hand along with a barista bar for fresh coffee.
Melbourne Airport Chief of Property, Linc Horton, described the pay-as-you-go lounge as a “beautiful space” which will kick start any holiday “the right way”.
“We’re excited for the future and proud to open Australia’s first marhaba experience,” he said.
The cost of accessing the lounge varies depending on time and demand, but can start from around AU$150.
