They passed through security, had their own Qantas boarding passes printed and were even escorted to their seats for their flight home.
We’re not referring to the Academy Awards winners, we’re talking about their gold statues aka those shiny and highly desirable Oscars.
Qantas renamed its flight QF12 from LAX the ‘Oscar One’ on Monday as a tribute to the six Mad Max: Fury Road Oscars travelling on the service.
In case you missed it, within the first 40 minutes of this year’s awards show, Mad Max won in half a dozen categories – a record for the most wins by an Australian film.

After the show, all six trophies needed to make their way from the City of Angels to the land down under and what better way to complete the journey than by travelling across the trans-Pacific in First Class on a special Qantas service.
Each award and the winners were issued a special boarding pass printed under the name ‘OSCAR/MR’ before making their way through security.

A Qantas spokesperson told AAP that initially people at the airport thought the Oscars were fake but were surprised to later find “they were the real deal”.
“Oscar had to go through the standard security screening machines and had to lay down so he didn’t topple over when he went through the machine.”

Most winners including Director George Miller and his Oscar-winning wife Margaret Sixel were on the flight along with crew members.
