Etihad Airways has Nicole Kidman, British Airways has Orlando Bloom, Emirates MAY have Jennifer Aniston and now Qantas has Wolverine aka Hugh Jackman.
The role of Celebrity Ambassador is really taking off in the aviation world, with Qantas being the latest airline to sign up a new big name to promote its products and services to a worldwide audience.
To be fair, Qantas has a strong history of teaming up with celebrities such as its annual participation in the G’Day USA awards night that attracts dozens of celebrities and there’s also John Travolta who was practically the face of Qantas for years. The airline even had Megan Gale attend the opening of its new Business Lounge at Perth Airport last month.
But now the Flying Kangaroo has asked Aussie actor, Hugh Jackman, to put his ‘mutant claws’ aside to promote Australia and Qantas as an official Global Ambassador.
Although the carrier hasn’t specified what his duties as ambassador will entail, the carrier did say they will work together on community projects in Australia. Jackman said it will see him ‘create opportunities for Aussies to learn, work and reach their potential in all parts of life’.
“Qantas has always had a vital role in promoting Australia as a tourism destination and I’m looking forward to playing my part as we work together to showcase our amazing cities, landscapes and experiences in the US., Asia and beyond.”

“What I also love about Qantas is the role it plays in the community. It’s inspiring to see an Australian company stand up for causes that make a difference and I know it’s something that the Qantas team and its employees are really passionate about.”
Qantas CEO Alan Joyce said the airline was thrilled to welcome Hugh Jackman in to the Qantas family as an ambassador.
