Maybe it’s growing visitor numbers or perhaps it’s the major redevelopment planned for the city, but airlines are certainly taking an interest in Brisbane.

In the coming week, Qantas will join Singapore Airlines and Air New Zealand as the latest carrier to upgrade its product from the city’s international airport.

Following up on intentions unveiled last year, the Flying Kangaroo has unveiled the design of the new multimillion dollar Premium Lounge, which will unite its Brisbane International First and Business Lounges into a single space.

The room will adopt a similar design to that used in the Hong Kong and Singapore lounges, while also reflect the natural beauty of Queensland.

It will offer 25 percent more space for customers and feature seasonal menus by Qantas Chef Neil Perry, a bar serving Rockpool-designed cocktails and all-day barista coffee by Vittoria will be introduced.

Construction will start this month, with first guests expected by October.

Qantas is also looking to completely redesign its domestic terminal lounges in the coming months and introduce a refreshed Qantas Club with a new Valet experience.

The Flying Kangaroo is the latest airline to upgrade its product at the gateway, with Singapore Airlines opening its new Brisbane lounge last month and Air New Zealand releasing first pictures of its new Brisbane International Lounge in March. Meanwhile, Air Canada has also become the first airline to launch non-stop flights from the city to Canada.
