QANTAS 'LINKS' MELBOURNE TO THE SUNSHINE COAST OVER XMAS

QantasLink is making it easier for Melburnians to run across pristine sand, unwind in the clear blue ocean, explore national parks and visit the Australia Zoo this Christmas.

QantasLink is making it easier for Melburnians to run across pristine sand, unwind in the clear blue ocean, explore national parks and visit the Australia Zoo this Christmas.

The airline has confirmed it will operate seasonal flights between Melbourne and the Sunshine Coast over the upcoming holiday period to meet growing demand.

Five return flights will fly per week between the two destinations on Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday between 16 December 2017 and 28 January 2018.

A dual-cabin 717 jet aircraft will operate on the route with 110 seats to fill in each direction.

QantasLink’s Chief Executive Officer, John Gissing, said the airline is always looking to provide travellers with more options, particularly over busier periods.

“This is great news for customers planning their holiday break, making it even easier for more Australian and international travellers to explore Queensland’s beaches, and also for locals who want to fly south for the summer.”

The decision comes after the success of direct flights last season, which Gissing said were “really popular”.

Meanwhile, QantasLink will also offers year-round direct flights between Sydney and the Sunshine Coast.
