Qatar Airways tops Singapore Airlines as 'World's Best Airline'

Those ongoing air blockades in the Middle East are doing little to hurt Qatar Airways' reputation because the airline just won the aviation industry's equivalent of an Oscar.

Those ongoing air blockades in the Middle East are doing little to hurt Qatar Airways’ reputation because the airline just won the aviation industry’s equivalent of an Oscar.

Qatar’s national carrier received the title ‘World’s Best Airline’ in this year’s SKYTRAX 2017 World Airline Awards, making it the fourth time the airline has won the prestigious award.

In winning, Qatar Airways beat last year’s winner and its UAE rival, Emirates, which fell down the list to World’s 4th Best Airline in 2017. The Doha-based carrier also topped this year’s second place winner, Singapore Airlines.

The announcement comes as Qatar Airways attempts to fly through an ongoing air blockade raised by its Middle Eastern neighbours earlier this month. It also follows the recent launch of the carrier’s new QSuite – a revolutionary Business Class product that can adjust to offer guests double beds and four-way corporate meeting spaces.
