SilkAir goes direct to Cairns & Darwin

No longer will your clients have to stopover in Darwin from Singapore before travelling onwards to Cairns, because SilkAir is delinking all its Northern flights and giving the two cities their own separate services.

Currently, the carrier operates from Cairns and Darwin to Singapore on Monday, Thursday and Saturday. Passengers booked on the Monday or Thursday Singapore-Cairns service have to stopover in Darwin.

However, from 30 May, Cairns passengers will be able to fly to each city direct, shortening the travel time and indicating growing demand for travel from Northern Australia to Singapore.

The current flight MI822 will operate as two separate flights, with MI812/MI811 flying to and from Cairns and MI804/803 flying to and from Darwin.

Cairns flights will depart at 12.40 on Monday and Thursday, arriving in Singapore at 5.10pm. It will then return on the same days at 11.15am, arriving in Cairns at 10.25am. The Saturday flight will depart Cairns at 11.15am to arrive in Singapore at 3.50pm. The return service will depart Singapore at 1.40pm and arrive in Cairns at 10.25am.

Meanwhile, the Darwin service will leave the Australian city on Tuesday and Friday at 2.55pm to arrive at 6.15am. It will then return at 7.55pm to arrive in Darwin on 2.05am the following day. There’s also Wednesday, Friday and Sunday flights from Darwin leaving at 3.50pm, touching down in Singapore at 7.00pm and then the return leaves at 8.30am to arrive in Australia at 2.45pm.

“This will not only shorten travel times for passengers travelling between Singapore and these two cities but also signifies an increase in capacity on these routes.”

Early last year, SilkAir updated its cabin crew uniform for the fourth time in its 26 years of flying. The revamped outfits feature bold colours and a chic design, creating a classy meets youthful look.
