Virgin Australia is scrambling to get people back in the air after an IT glitch delayed a number of flights this morning, leaving thousands of passengers stranded across the country.
The airline said the “intermittent issues”, which caused trouble to its check-in system, have been repaired and the system is now running as per usual.
Staff were allegedly forced to manually check-in customers, which added to wait times.
With the system repaired, passengers are now being passed through the check-in counter normally and flights are preparing to take off as per usual.
In a Twitter update, the carrier apologised for the inconvenience:
All Virgin Australia check-in systems are up and running as per usual. We apologise for any inconvenience caused this morning.

However, that didn’t stop stranded travellers from expressing their frustrations on Twitter, with some saying they were forced to change gates several times before taking off, while others said they missed their connections.
