Australia’s newest airline Bonza is up and away today, celebrating its first-ever flight from home base Sunshine Coast Airport to the Whitsunday Coast with customers, crew and invited members of the travel community, including Karryon.
Today’s inaugural passenger flight marks the first of 27 services to a total of 17 network destinations after Bonza went on sale late week, selling more than 10,000 seats via the app.
The historic coast-to-coast flight is a game changer for both tourism markets as well as friends and family who can ditch the 12-hour drive for a direct flight.
Bonza CEO Tim Jordan said he is thrilled to deliver on Bonza’s promise of stimulating new tourism markets by serving underserved regional communities.

The onboard experience includes an all-Aussie menu with items ordered on demand from the Fly Bonza app and delivered directly to seats.
Bonza boost for Sunshine Coast
Sunshine Coast Airport CEO Andrew Brodie said: “As the home base for Bonza, this is a momentous day for the Sunshine Coast as Australia’s newest low-cost airline takes to the skies on its inaugural flight heading to the Whitsundays, making this and other incredible destinations so much more accessible for everyday Australians.”

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) gave Bonza the go-ahead to fly earlier this month.
