Avalon adds 2023 cruises, extends 2024 season after strongest sales ever

Avalon Waterways is riding the swell of a record sales season for its strongest first quarter to date, adding extra 2023 cruises and extending the 2024 season to meet the trending demand for Europe river cruising.

Avalon Waterways has seen a surge in bookings across France on the Seine and Rhône rivers as well as the Rhine & Moselle rivers and sell-out status on its special-interest cruises.

Off-season travel is also trending with the line’s Festive Season cruises almost sold out for 2023, prompting additional departures in November 2023 to meet demand.

Avalon Waterways’ wine-themed cruises are almost at capacity for 2023, too. Two additional wine-themed cruises will sail on the Rhône River through Burgundy and Provence in early- and mid-November – reaching even more cruisers in the off-season.

Avalon is also extending its 2024 season into November on the Seine and Rhône rivers and adding extra departures for the Rhine and Danube, including more festive cruises.

Reflecting on the river cruise trends, Avalon Waterways President Pam Hoffee said: “Globally, we’ve just witnessed the biggest first quarter bookings swell in our history.”

“While the Rhine River leads this wave of interest, our most popular destination for 2023 is France and we expect both the Seine and Rhône rivers to sell out this year.

“And, thanks to increased interest in longer journeys, we’re also enjoying a growing trend in 14- and 15-night river cruises.”
