Jan Swartz, president of Princess Cruises said “Innovation is allowing us to pair guidance from public health experts with the unparalleled touch-free capabilities of the OceanMedallion honouring our commitment to health and safety, while continuing to reinvent and simplify the experience all together.”
So what exactly does your Ocean Medallion allow you to do while onboard? Let’s find out…
Tell me more about MedallionClass
In a nutshell, Princess MedallionClass is a wearable device replaces the traditional cruise card to significantly expand touch-free options and personalisation on board.
These include:
- Touchless embarkation and disembarkation
- Keyless stateroom entry
- Completely touchless commerce
- Simplified safety training
- On-demand food, beverages and retail items delivered anywhere onboard
- Guest service requests via mobile device chat
- Entertainment content via smart devices
You will receive a new medallion each cruise you embark on, embossed with your name, ship, and sailing date. Your medallion will be colour coded to your loyalty level, so if you’re an elite guest you can be sure this is recognised throughout your stay.
Your Ocean medallion will streamline arrival and check-in, completely reinventing the traditional muster drill and allow you to open your cabin and make touchless payments. Passengers must keep their medallion on them at all times during the cruise and can even purchase jewellery and accessories to wear them in style.
According to the cruise line, MedallionNet also allows guests can stay connected to the things and people they love and share cruise holiday memories with ease. It offers connectivity that’s fast, unlimited, reliable, and affordable with an access point in every stateroom, so you can stream favourite movies, shows, games and music; connect to favorite social media sites; and video chat from anywhere on the ship.
John Padgett, chief experience and innovation officer for Carnival Corporation said: “That means that the smartest ships at sea are now enabling intelligence-driven safety processes via the OceanMedallion.”
