The world will have to wait a little longer for its first Discovery Yacht, with Scenic pushing back the launch of Scenic Eclipse by five months to January 2019.

The world will have to wait a little longer for its first Discovery Yacht, with Scenic pushing back the launch of Scenic Eclipse by five months to January 2019.

The news was confirmed today by Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours, which cited construction issues for the delay.

Scenic Founder and Chairman, Glen Moroney, said despite efforts to speed up construction, the cruise line isn’t prepared to “compromise the quality of the vessel” or “potentially impact guest experience” to meet the original 31 August 2018 launch date.

“We have apologised to affected guests for the inconvenience caused.”

Scenic will issue full refunds to guests for their Scenic Eclipse cruise and consideration of any other costs associated with their travel plans.

“In addition, the Scenic team will work closely with guests to reschedule their trip at a suitable time, for travel within the next two years,” Moroney added.

“Scenic will provide all guests who rebook a Scenic Eclipse voyage during this time a future cruise credit to the value of 25% of the cost of their rebooked cruise.”

Scenic is contacting all guests and their travel agents affected by the delay as a matter of priority.

KARRYON inquired about the 2020 launch date of Eclipse‘s sister-vessel, and was told that ” at this stage our priority is managing the impact on our guests and Travel Agent partners” and that “there is no known impact on the delivery of the sister ship”.
