Norwegian Cruise Line’s private Bahamian isle is getting a major revamp with new pools, beach clubs and a record-breaking waterpark by 2026 in Great Stirrup Cay island upgrades.

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has revealed major enhancements and extensions to its private island, Great Stirrup Cay in The Bahamas, set to debut by the end of 2026.

The extensive transformation includes a new multi-ship pier, expanded pool and beach areas, and the introduction of Great Tides Waterpark, positioning the island as a world-class resort destination.

Cruisers sailing on 17 NCL ships will soon have access to new island amenities via the new pier, welcome centre and an island tram system for easy transport.

The centrepiece of the Great Stirrup Cay island upgrades is the Great Life Lagoon, an almost 6,000sqm heated pool (larger than two Olympic-sized pools combined) with two swim-up bars, private cabanas and Splash Harbor – a splash pad for kids.

For an elevated, adults-only island experience, the new Vibe Shore Club is accessible through an all-day pass and features private cabanas and a bar.

Further Great Stirrup Cay island upgrades include the debut of Great Tides Waterpark by mid-2026, an adventure destination with slides and attractions geared for all ages.

The Tidal Tower with eight waterslides, including high-speed racing slides and Cliffside Cove with the first cliffside jumps are some of the waterpark highlights, along with a 244m river and 836sqm splash zone for kids.

NCL expects more than one million cruisers will visit Great Stirrup Cay in 2026 on 17 ships, including the new Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna (debuting in March 2026).
