Legend of the Seas graced Sydney Harbour with an early visit this week – six months ahead of her inaugural season sailing from Australia.

The 1,832-passenger vessel docked at the newly renovated Overseas Passenger Terminal yesterday as part of her repositioning cruise to Asia.

Travel professionals (including KarryOn) were invited to get a sneak peek of the ship before she officially calls Australia home on 8 December.

Weighing around 70,000 tonne, the ship is one of four Royal Caribbean ships that will be based out of Australia during the upcoming wave season – joining Explorer of the Seas (who will be based out of Sydney for the first time), Voyager of the Seas and Radiance of the Seas.

But while her sisters sail to and from Sydney, she’ll be the first ever Queensland-based ship for the cruise line.

New tech onboard makes it easier for guests to find their way around.

During her five month season in Australia later this year, she is expected to inject some $24 million into the Queensland economy.

Yesterday’s pre-season visit alone is said to have injected more than $1.5 million with the 14-night cruise departing Sydney and calling at Brisbane, Cairns, Airlie Beach and Darwin in Australia.

Parents can sign their kids up to the play area the moment they board.

In addition to being a big money maker Down Under, Legend of the Seas will also bring Royal Caribbean’s world famous entertainment and activities to Brisbane cruise passengers.

These include the central Atrium where high flying acrobats put on an incredible aerial show; an outdoor rock climbing wall for active travellers to test their skill; a mini golf course and an indoor swimming pool for more leisurely pursuits; as well as a babies nursery.
