How a woman survived after falling from a cruise ship and spending 10 hours at sea

A 46-year-old British woman has miraculously survived after falling from the Norwegian Star cruise ship in Croatia over the weekend and spending a terrifying 10 hours floating in the Adriatic Sea.

A 46-year-old British woman has miraculously survived after falling from the Norwegian Star cruise ship in Croatia over the weekend and spending a terrifying 10 hours floating in the Adriatic Sea.

An alarm was raised immediately after Kay Longstaff fell on Saturday evening and a desperate search was launched by the Croatian Coast Guard.

Amazingly, she was found swimming in the water on Sunday morning not far from where she was believed to have fallen.

Rescuers believe it was Kay Longstaff’s yoga fitness and singing that ultimately distracted her from the cold water and assisted in her survival.

Following her rescue, she was taken to hospital in Pula, Croatia but is believed to be out of danger.

Kay has since spoken to The Sun, telling them that she “fell off the back of the Norwegian Star and I was in the water for about 10 hours. These wonderful guys rescued me.”

Croatian authorities are set to examine CCTV footage from the ship said it still remains unclear whether the woman accidentally fell into the water.

A spokesman for the cruise company said the ship will be now delayed on her return to Venice but they were very pleased that the woman was safe.
