Scarlet Lady shines: Virgin Voyages’ first ship gets big makeover

Virgin Voyages’ first ship, Scarlet Lady, is set for a two-week refresh from 14-28 November, giving the popular vessel some big new updates.

Virgin Voyages’ first ship, Scarlet Lady, is set for a two-week refresh from 14-28 November, giving the popular vessel some big new updates.

The cruise line says that while fan-favourite experiences like Scarlet Night and award-winning dining remain unchanged, a few spaces on board will get a fresh look.

In response to high demand, 24 Sea Terrace cabins on deck 11 will be converted into “Seriously Suite” RockStar Quarters. These suites will feature a European king bed, Peek-a-Boo shower, and Virgin’s iconic Yellow Leaf hammock.

On the dining front, Razzle Dazzle, known for its bold interiors and veggie-forward brunch, will introduce a new evening concept. “Lucky Lotus by Razzle Dazzle” will offer Chinese-inspired dishes and craft cocktails, served in a redesigned setting with intimate booths.

On deck, VIP cabanas with daybeds and white curtains will provide a luxurious spot for relaxation, while the Ground Club Too coffee bar will transform into a sleek nighttime lounge.

Additional upgrades include an expanded casino, a couples’ treatment room at Redemption Spa, and a revamped wine display at The Wake restaurant.

A new mermaid on Scarlet Lady’s bow will symbolise the ship’s strength and safe passage.

After renovations, Scarlet Lady will sail from Rome to Miami before starting longer Caribbean voyages, with stops at Virgin Voyages’ Beach Club in the Bahamas.

“Since her much-anticipated debut in 2021, Scarlet Lady has sailed the world, welcoming hundreds of thousands of sailors on-board while delivering irresistible holidays,” Virgin Voyages VP of Fleet Experience Nicole Huang said.

“We’re listening and giving travellers more of what they’ve asked for – this includes more suites, luxe new cabanas and fresh, vibey dining concepts – so sailors can truly live the life of a rockstar.”

The rockstar vision has especially driven the refresh of the Sea Terrace cabins.

“We wanted to give our sailors a taste of the rockstar life and worked with Tom Dixon to design the 78 RockStar and Mega RockStar Quarters,” Huang explained.

“They did such an amazing job, and there’s so much demand – our Massive Suite is often booked a year or more in advance.

“We’re answering in a big way by adding suites, so more people can live their best lives.”

It’ll still be a while before Virgin Voyages is seen Down Under though after Virgin Voyages decided to cancel Resilient Lady’s 2024/2025 Australasian season due to “unacceptable risks for safe passage” through the Red Sea.

Read how certified Virgin Voyages fanatic and TravelManagers personal travel manager (PTM) Jo Patton won the coveted ‘Mermillionaire’ incentive earlier this year, sailing away with one million Velocity Points.
