Twice the fun: Royal Caribbean returns to Australia with two ships

Royal Caribbean International (RCI) has returned to Australia for the first time since 2019, with not one but two cruise ship arrivals.

Royal Caribbean International (RCI) has returned to Australia for the first time since 2019, with not one but two cruise ship arrivals.

Docking on Saturday in Sydney, RCI’s Ovation of the Seas brings two to 12-night cruises to Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific.

Among its experiences, Ovation features the highest viewing deck on a cruise ship – the all-glass North Star – as well as the RipCord Skydiving experience and Flowrider wave machine.

In what the cruise line claims is the largest indoor activity complex at sea, the vessel also boasts rock climbing, roller skating and bumper cars.

On Tuesday, RCI kicks off November with the arrival of Quantum of the Seas in Brisbane.

RCI Australia and New Zealand vice president and managing director Gavin Smith said Ovation’s sixth season from Sydney is proof of Aussies’ appetite for cruising.

“This is an incredibly exciting time for Royal Caribbean in Australia, with Ovation’s return to Sydney and Quantum of the Seas’ arrival into Brisbane on Tuesday, November 1,” Smith said.

“It is fantastic to see Ovation in Sydney Harbour once again; and today is also an important milestone to thank our suppliers, the travel industry and our loyal guests for the unwavering support they have demonstrated over the last two years.

“We are very much looking forward to welcoming back our returning guests and new holidaymakers for a much-needed summer season of adventure and lifelong memories.”
