Viking Venus will soon commence its inaugural Grand Australia Circumnavigation during the upcoming Australia and New Zealand cruise season, arriving in Darwin from Bali on 11 December 2024.
The ship will arrive into Darwin during its 17-day Komodo & The Australian Coast voyage.
As reported earlier by Karryon, Viking Venus will then sail Australia’s east coast, arriving in Sydney on 23 December 2024 before heading to New Zealand on the 15-day Australia & New Zealand voyage, arriving first to Dunedin on 31 December 2024 and then Auckland on 5 January 2025.
The 930-guest and 465 stateroom Viking Venus was launched in early 2021 and is Viking’s seventh ship.
In addition to marking the first time that Viking Venus is in local waters, she will also sail the inaugural 32-day Grand Australian Circumnavigation: a roundtrip from Sydney departing on 20 January 2025 and visiting Indonesia.
This itinerary will combine both beauty and culture as guests circumnavigate Australia, encountering natural wonders, lesser-known cultural gems, and Indonesian treasures in Komodo and Bali.
Guests will also visit the Whitsunday Islands’ Great Barrier Reef, the wild landscapes of northwestern Tasmania; and delve into the histories of Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne during the cruise.
Other Grand Australia Circumnavigation highlights include sailing the Great Australian Bight, and Bass Strait; visiting six UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including The Great Barrier Reef, Blue Mountains and Borobudur; seeing Komodo dragons and snorkelling at Pink Beach in Indonesia.
The trip also includes overnights in Bali to immerse in nature, Bali’s heritage and spiritual temples; calls on the new ports of Geraldton, Busselton and Albany with a return to Perth for the first time since 2019; and a choice of pre or post-cruise extensions to add more days.
The Grand Australia Circumnavigation has just one scheduled departure date this season: 20 January 2025. Next season, it will have two sailings: 30 December 2025 and 27 February 2026.
