With Sir Richard Branson himself hosting the sailaway soiree, Resilient Lady – the third in the Virgin Voyages fleet –  embarked on her maiden season Down Under yesterday, sailing from Melbourne to Hobart on a five-day Tassie journey.

Fresh from Resilient Lady’s Sydney debut, the Virgin Group Founder hosted the party on the ship’s upper pool deck, seeing passengers off with a celebratory Champagne toast after an exclusive media event.

During the press conference, he discussed the cruise line’s long-term plans for Australia and the South Pacific and his excitement for this new Aussie chapter.

“Australia has always held a special place in my heart and I’m so thankful for the warm welcome Australia has provided us. We are so excited to show you Resilient Lady and we’re determined to make waves Down Under with this new way of cruising.”

Ranging from two- to 14-night cruises, the inaugural season sees the adults-only Resilient Lady visit locales such as Tasmania, New Zealand’s fjords and Australia’s southern coast.

Virgin Voyages has already announced a second Australia and New Zealand season from December 2024, adding nine new ports of call for the upcoming season.
