What did 100 kids armed with go pros think of Independence of the Seas' makeover?

The 3858 passenger ship has just had a several million dollar revamp and now boats its very own children’s wonderland.

Kids were set loose in the ship’s new playground which features water slides, swimming pools, a rock climbing wall and surf simulator.

There is also a virtual reality bungee trampoline and laser tag. Not to mention an ice cream and lolly store and fish-and-chip-themed restaurant for hungry little tummies.

As you can see in the footage below the fearless youngsters gave the new playground a pretty huge tick of approval.

Royal Caribbean’s Managing Director UK Ben Bouldin said he didn’t want Independence of the Seas to just “meet expectations, but smash them and redefine how to holiday.”

“As the next generation of cruise-goers, our 100 children are among the first to experience her extraordinary new features – some of which couldn’t have even been imagined when they were born ten years ago.”

Independence of the Seas arrived at her new home in Southampton earlier this month and the first guests were welcomed onboard last week when she set sail on a two-night cruise to Paris from Southampton.

Independence of the Seas will now make calls at destinations across Europe and the Mediterranean until November.
