Thredbo is celebrating 40cm of fresh snow with more forecast, setting the resort up for an opening weekend that’s set to boom.

Ready to hit the slopes? The storm has arrived, bringing 40cm of fresh snow to Thredbo, in what is perfect timing ahead of opening weekend 12-14 June.

And if that’s not exciting enough for you, experts are predicting there will be another 50cm to fall, providing a kick start for what is to be a great season ahead.

The snow dances have been working!

Snow has been falling over Thredbo for the past 24 hours, with storm totals now hitting 40cm up high and 20cm all the way down in the village.

The white stuff is all thanks to a powerful cold front that swept into the Snowy Mountains on Monday evening and brought blizzards from early morning Tuesday.

The cold front looks like it is set to stick around, too, with temperatures dropping to a maximum of 2 °C and low of -4 °C, setting the resort up for an awesome opening weekend.

The resort’s winter 2021 events calendar is live and jam-packed with events ready for grand opening this weekend, 12-14 June.
