Aussies advised against travel to Egypt after aircraft bombing

Distressing news recently as officials claim that the recent crash of a Russian charter flight full of holiday makers over Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula was the result of a bomb.

Distressing news recently as officials claim that the recent crash of a Russian charter flight full of holiday makers over Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula was the result of a bomb.

Russian authorities have since cancelled flights to the country.

As a result of the incident, the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has urged Aussies to reconsider their need to travel to Egypt. They caution that tourist sites in the country could be targeted by terrorists.

Meanwhile, the UK government has advised against all but essential travel by air to and from Sharm el Sheikh. Regular flights to and from the UK to Sharm el Sheikh were suspended on 4 November.

Finally, they advise customers who have holidays or flights booked to Egypt soon to contact their travel provider or airline for an update on their travel arrangements.

However, on a recent visit the Red Sea, Egypt’s president Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said he is adamant that the lights not go out in Sharm el Sheikh. His visit was intended to support the country’s travel sector, which brings in $A398.66 million a month from British and Russian tourists.
