Aussies would rather travel than get hitched

Don’t put a ring on it, put a visa stamp on it! A new study has found Aussies would rather commit to hitting the road than walking down the aisle because travel is more appealing than marriage.

Don’t put a ring on it, put a visa stamp on it! A new study has found Aussies would rather commit to hitting the road than walking down the aisle because travel is more appealing than marriage.

In the lead up to Valentine’s Day, Comparetravelinsurance.com.au conducted some romantic research that turned out to be very anti-romance with nine out of 10 Aussies saying they’d prefer to take a dream getaway than host a wedding.

Surprisingly, more than half of those who chose marriage over travel were men (56 percent).

Also a shocker…

Of those that said ‘yes’ to a wedding, the majority were aged between 18-24 followed by respondents aged 25-34.

*Thinks out loud* maybe that’s because the older generations are already hitched…

Comparetravelinsurance.com.au’s Director, Natalie Ball, said the results of the survey were genuinely shocking because although it’s common knowledge that Aussies love to travel, the company wasn’t expecting it to be more popular than getting hitched.

“It’s eye-opening that so many people were more enthused about a holiday than their own wedding.”

“Perhaps Aussies are reassessing their goals and rejecting conventional milestones in favour of adventure and exploration.”

She continued, saying that in addition to wanted to get out and experience the world, Aussies could also prefer travel because the experiences on the road “will stay with you forever”.
