Denpasar Airport has reopened and flights to and from Bali are operating as normal after volcanic ash from Mt Agung forced the cancellation of hundreds of flights last week.

Denpasar Airport has reopened and flights to and from Bali are operating as normal after volcanic ash from Mt Agung forced the cancellation of hundreds of flights last week.

In an update over the weekend Qantas advised passengers that scheduled flights to and from Bali had now resumed.

“From Saturday, flights will operate as planned, subject to any changes in conditions,” Qantas said.

If there are any further changes to the schedule, Qantas will contact customers directly via sms and email.

The airline’s team of senior pilots and meteorologists are continuing  to monitor the situation.

They are advising customers booked to travel to Bali over the coming days to check their flight status on Qantas.com for the most up to date information.

Jetstar said its relief flights out of Bali to Australia were in full swing to bring home more than 1000 passengers who had been affected by flight cancellations caused by recent volcanic eruptions.

Yesterday Virgin Australia confirmed that improved flying conditions meant their team of safety experts had declared it safe to continue normal operations.

“Virgin Australia’s regular services between Australia and Denpasar have resumed, subject to conditions remaining favourable.”

Virgin is still encouraging passengers to check the Flight Status page before heading to the airport as this situation remains unpredictable and flights may be cancelled at short notice if conditions deteriorate.

Air Asia and Garuda made a similar announcements, cautioning passengers to keep on eye on flight status in case of any changes.
