FULL OF HOT AIR: Trump baby blimp set to fly over London

U.S President Donald Trump is set to visit London next week for the first time since he took office and the locals have a big blow up surprise waiting for him.

U.S President Donald Trump is set to visit London next week for the first time since he took office and the locals have a big blow up surprise waiting for him.

It’d be fair to say that a lot of English folks aren’t exactly plussed that the controversial Donald Trump will be visiting their shores in an official capacity on July 13th.

In fact, a group of Brits were so incensed at the news that in true eccentric English fashion, they dreamt up the idea of creating a giant ‘Trump baby blimp’ in a nappy to fly over the city of London when Trump hits town.

Why? In their words;

“Donald Trump is a big, angry baby with a fragile ego and tiny hands. He’s also racist demagogue who is a danger to women, immigrants and minorities and a mortal threat to world peace and the very future of life on earth. Moral outrage is water off a duck’s back to Trump. But he seems to hate it when people make fun of him,”

“So when Trump visits the UK on Friday the 13th of July, we want to make sure he knows that all of Britain is looking down on him and laughing at him. That’s why a group of us have chipped in and raised enough money to have a 6-meter high blimp made by a professional inflatables company, to be flown in the skies over Parliament Square during Trump’s visit.”

It’s like something out of an Austin Powers movie.

To make the project financially viable, the creators took to Crowdfunding page ‘CrowdFunder’ with the mission to;

“Make our six-meter high orange, inflatable baby with a malevolent face and tiny hands fly over central London during Trump’s UK visit.”

They even included the addition of a mobile phone in Trumps notorious right tweeting hand as a key element of the design.

And the response?

To date the crowdfunding campaigned has raised £20,250 (AU$36,200) to build the Trump blimp, which made the dream a reality and now means that the blimp will take flight from Parliament Square Garden on July 13th.

And it looks like…

Even more interestingly (and perhaps tellingly) is that Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has recognised that the blimp is a legitimate form of protest and decided that it will be permissible for the big baby blimp to fly over the city during the visit.

There are some rules, however, that the Trump baby blimp must abide by which include;

– Only flying from Parliament Square Gardens, with the blimp tethered to the ground at all times.

– The Trump blimp must not fly more than 30m high.

– The blimp will only be allowed to fly between 9:30 am and 11:30 am on the 13 July, which aligns with a Stop Trump protest happening on the streets of London.

According to the official CrowdFunder page, the group has now raised far more money than they need to make Trump fly, and is working on starting a ‘Trump baby world tour’.

“People have been SO generous and supportive that we now have WAY more money than we can sensibly spend just on Trump’s UK visit in July! So – Trump Baby is going on World Tour!”

The group go on to say that “All the details are still TBC, but once little Donald has been run out of Britain in July, we will start to put together an itinerary”.

Regardless of the outcome of the Trump blimp taking flight on the 13th of July, one thing is for sure. Visit Britain are set to reap the rewards of more global exposure for the city of London and its stunning cityscape.
