EXPLORE SEX & PLEASURES: Adult-only things you can do during VIVID SYDNEY

Oh, so you think VIVID Sydney is JUST about tempting people out of their winter hibernation by lighting up buildings with family-friendly artistic designs?

Oh, so you think VIVID Sydney is JUST about tempting people out of their winter hibernation by lighting up buildings with family-friendly artistic designs?

WRONG! How very wrong you are!

The annual winter show, which commences this evening for three weeks, is spicing things up this year with new adults-only temptations.

While there will be regular displays suitable for children, in 2018 adults can also ‘light up’ their lives by deeply inspecting ‘sex and pleasure’.

We see that turned you on… attention-wise.

New this year is the ‘Come Closer: A Revealing Look at Sex and Pleasure‘ after-hours evening held at the Art Gallery of NSW on Wednesday, 13 June, which invites attendees to explore female sexuality, the role of pleasures in our lives and the influence technology has on social attitudes towards sex.

The evening will be split into three parts starting with a tour of the gallery held by curator Isobel Parker Philip, a “sex education class that you never received at school” delivered by The Indigo Project’s sex educator Georgia Grace, followed by a sychronised dance led by Haiku Hands.

If a close look at sex doesn’t tickle your fancy (each to their own), then there’s the ‘Let’s talk about death: It won’t kill you‘ evening on 30 May at the Art Gallery of NSW, which explores life and death while also celebrating mortality.

Attendees will learn how to approach death differently, creatively and with a touch of humour from psychologists. They’ll also enjoy vibrant pictures and music from award-winning artist, Goldheist.

Those who love to talk politics will get a kick out of ‘Common Ground: Politics and Perspectives‘, which invites people in Sydney to find common ground in times of tension on 6 June at the Art Gallery of NSW.

The stimulating talk will cover button issues including immigration, same-sex marriage, and inequality, and will be followed with a powerful performance by masterful musical collaboration, Air Land Sea.

Adults looking for more adventure during the light show may want to head on over to the Sydney Tower Eye where they’ll get the highest view of VIVID Sydney at 250m above street level AND enjoy an interactive dance floor.

While this feature IS open to children, there are special VIVID SKYWALK tours available in the evening when the young ones tend to end their day.
