Coronet Peak, Queenstown’s popular ski field, has launched a new limited run, high altitude dining experience at the popular on-mountain bistro, Heidi’s Hut.

Coronet Peak, Queenstown’s popular ski field, has launched a new limited run, high altitude dining experience at the popular on-mountain bistro, Heidi’s Hut.

Until September 8, the banquet-style dinner will run on Friday and Saturday nights in line with Coronet Peak night skiing.

However, this is no ski in ski out experience, but a full package with return transport from town (around a 25-minute drive) and a glass of Veuve Clicquot included.

Here you get to overlook the twinkling stars of Wakatipu basin with a roaring fire in the background enjoying a rare and exclusive experience with no more than 40 fellow diners.

The multi-course banquet is inspired by Northern Italian fare designed according to the après theme, such as a delectable cheese fondue and braised lamb cheeks, utilising local free range produce with a focus on limiting food mileage.

Coronet Peak Ski Area Manager Nigel Kerr says the package is a result of consistent demand in luxury ski on-snow experiences by locals, high-end domestic and international ski travellers.

“Offering a gourmet experience at one of our most popular dining venues meets that demand in a novel way – this is about recreating the après feel that is so popular in Europe, and enhancing the snow love affair, right here in Queenstown”.

The menu is served in a family sharing style, tables are adjoined to encourage interaction and engagement between guests. There’s no dot and smears or silver service, just a great quality and hardy alpine feast.

The package, touted as New Zealand’s most unique dinner retails through Eventfinda at NZ$135.
