Luxury wilderness camp, Longitude 131° at Uluru-Kata Tjuta in Australia’s Red Centre, has reopened following an extensive renovation.

The gem in Uluru’s accommodation crown, 21-year-old Longitude 131°, a member of Luxury Lodges of Australia, has long been the go-to for luxury travellers in the Red Centre.

In February, it closed its doors for an extensive $2.5 million refresh. Now, after an overhaul, it’s reopened for business.

A starring feature in the renovation is a newly commissioned artwork by Anangu artist Carlene Thompson from the Ernabella Arts Community, entitled Kalaya NguraEmu Country – which depicts the artist’s family’s country near Kanpi in the Western APY Lands.

All 15 of the premium pavilions dotted among the red-rust dunes were also given a refreshed look with new Tasmanian blackwood features on the ‘Baillie Bed’, robe and in-suite bar, and new Armadillo floor rugs and Amelia leather tub chairs.

The main ‘Dune House’ has new Pierre and Charlotte Julien dining tables in American oak, and outside, freshly upholstered Robert Plumb furniture.

The all-inclusive experience also includes cuisine created by Executive Chef Marama Hohepa, who uses Indigenous bush ingredients in her masterful dishes.

Guests can also take guided hikes around Uluru and Kata Tjuta, camel tours, scenic plane flights, go outback cycling or take scenic flights over the outback and further afield to Lake Amadeus and Kings Canyon.
