Australian and New Zealand wholesalers and travel media explored the northern part of New Caledonia during a famil last month.

During the four-day famil the group travelled across the island from Nouema in the south to Poum in the north.

Driving through the island the group got to experience the heavy rainforest vegetation, unspoiled cost lines with a glimpse of the famous Great Barrier Reef as well as the more rugged landscapes, which showcased the broad diversity of landscapes of the unique South Pacific Island.

The unspoiled nature in the northern region populated by numerous local tribes makes New Caledonia an incredibly authentic island.

One of the highlights of the trip was a visit to a local Kanak tribe where the chief of the tribe invited the group into his home to prepare a traditional Kanak meal – the Bougna.

With endless water-sport and outdoor activities the destination is perfect for the soft adventure seekers and the group got to experience kayaking as well as snorkelling in the pristine waters just off Poindimie.

The accommodation standard is comparably high in New Caledonia and during the four day trip the group experienced various hotels and resorts from 3 – 5 star including; Sheraton Deva Resort and SpaTieti hotelMalabou Beach hotel and Château Royal Beach Resort & Spa.
