Scenic has added three new ultra-luxe voyages to the East Antarctic and Ross Sea regions to its 2024/25 brochure collection, allowing travellers to follow in the footsteps of lauded explorers such as Mawson, Scott and Shackleton.
With just three departures of 200 guests each year, the three all-inclusive itineraries aboard the purpose-built Scenic Eclipse II Discovery Yacht are an exclusive opportunity to explore regions traditionally unexplored and inaccessible to many expedition cruises.
Super earlybird savings from AUD$7,000pp or $14,000 per couple are now available:
- 25-day Mawson’s Hut & Commonwealth Bay Expedition from Queenstown to Hobart from AUD$39,995pp, saving $7,000.
- 24-day Antarctica’s Ross Sea: Majestic Ice and Wildlife from Hobart to Dunedin or vice versa from AUD$39,995pp, saving $7,000.
Scenic Group VP Ocean Deployment Claudius Docekal said the new voyages were created to cater for the demand for exclusive polar experiences.
“Scenic Eclipse II will be the newest ultra-luxury expedition ship operating in remote East Antarctica and the Ross Sea region, providing once-in-a-lifetime journeys for our guests,” he said.

“Guests can enjoy exclusive experiences such as the McMurdo Dry Valleys, a landscape that has been compared to the surface of Mars and is only accessible by helicopter.”
The Scenic Eclipse Discovery Team on each voyage comprises up to 20 experts from naturalists to marine biologists and glaciologists.
The team provides insights with every site visit and low-impact ways to explore via Zodiac, kayak and stand-up paddleboard excursions.
For an additional cost, travellers can also experience state-of-the-art helicopters or a custom-built submersible for an incomparable exploration.
